Last year, the Collin County MUD No. 1 Board of Directors approved a partnership with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to stock District-owned ponds with largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish — at no cost to taxpayers!
Last week, TPWD completed another round of stocking, releasing 1,200 juvenile channel catfish into five ponds in the Cypress and Hazel areas of Light Farms. These catfish were raised at TPWD’s fish hatchery in Athens, Texas, before making their new home in our community’s ponds.
With this latest stocking, TPWD has now stocked every District-owned pond in Light Farms! The only ponds not included in the program are Constellation Lake and the pond near Parkview on Light Farms Way, as both are privately owned by the HOA.
A Friendly Reminder: All fishing in Light Farms is catch-and-release.
Please help protect our growing fish populations by returning your catches safely to the water. We’re grateful for our continued partnership with TPWD and look forward to seeing residents enjoy these fishing opportunities for years to come.
Happy fishing, Light Farms!
